چکیده
With regard to the recent article by Husillos et al. on the scarcely prevalent collecting duct renal cancer and due to its histological peculiarity, we want to share our experience with another no less characteristic anatomopathological variant with the readers of Actas Urológicas.1 It is a 65-year-old male who consulted in May 2007 for epigastric pain with mass at that location. He underwent a CT scan which showed large retroperitoneal tumor that depended on the left renal upper pole, as well as multiple pulmonary nodules compatible with metastasis in balloon release (Fig. 1). Given these findings, left radical nephrectomy was carried out. The anatomopathological analysis revealed a renal carcinoma with leiomyo-sarcomatoid differentiation in 90% of the sample, Fuhrman grade IV. It showed positivity immunohistochemically for cytokeratin (AE1/AE3), actin, desmin, and vimentin (Figs. 2 and 3).

Sarcomatoid Chromophobe Renal Cell Carcinoma with Heterologous Component
Clear cellrenal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most common malignant renal tumor in adults, while chromophobe RCC (CRCC) is the third most common. Any subtypes of RCC can undergo sarcomatoid differentiation, but heterologous differentiation in sarcomatoid area is very rare in RCC. Here a61-year male is presented with hematuria and palpable mass. Clinicoradiologically, RCC was considered and left r...
متن کاملSarcomatoid Carcinoma of Renal Pelvis Involving Ureter and Renal Parenchyma with Heterologous Osteosarcomatous Differentiation: A Case Report and Review of Literature
Sarcomatoid carcinoma is a high‑grade rare malignant tumor with both epithelial and mesenchymal components. Sarcomatoid carcinoma in the upper urinary tract is very rare. We reported here a case of sarcomatoid carcinoma of renal pelvis with osteosarcomatous differentiation, with involvement of the ureter and renal parenchyma in a 68-year-old female. Histologically, predominant pleomorphic spind...
متن کاملSorafenib after combination therapy with gemcitabine plus doxorubicine in patients with sarcomatoid renal cell Carcinoma: a prospective evaluation
BACKGROUND Sarcomatoid renal cell cancer (RCC) is a distinct histological variant of RCC that is associated with rapid progression and a poor prognosis. The optimal treatment for patients with sarcomatoid RCC remains to be defined. Gemcitabine plus doxorubicine (GD) has shown some efficacy, however durability of response is limited. We carried out a prospective, open-label study to investigate ...
